the heart of Tallaght on the N81 dual carriageway. Ornamental formal
gardens lie side by side with attractive water features such as
ponds, waterfalls and a sensory garden. Extensive tree planting allows shaded areas
for relaxation. Pedestrian paths around the ponds allow for a
pleasant walks and passive recreation. The Dublin Mountains
Way begins in Sean Walsh Park. The park is also the site of Tallaght
Stadium, a purpose built 6,000 seat home of Shamrock Rovers football
club.
Sean Walsh Memorial Park was opened in 1989 and is a vital amenity for the whole of Tallaght. It is an oasis at the heart of a densely-populated urban area. The park provides a landscaped parkland and recreation area for residents and visitors including tourists that stay in the hotels nearby and overlooking the park. The Dublin mountains form a comforting backdrop to this neighbourhood park that is adjacent to the Square shopping complex. Sean Walsh Park also encompasses a number of sports playing pitches catering for the needs of local football clubs. Sean Walsh Memorial park is a unique green spot in Tallaght. There is a children's playground located between two ponds that comprises two separated areas. The junior section is compact whereas the senior area is spacious and suitable for older children. Beside the playground, there is a sensory garden that hosts a Tree of Hope. ![]() Unfortunately some parts of this gorgeous park are plagued by large amounts of rubbish and litter. Our group of hard-working Litter Mugs meet once per month to conduct an extensive clean up of the walking areas, green spaces, and the water ways.
